The key to crowdfunding success is networking, and that is why it’s so important to identify who is in your network. Start by listing those who support you best—your immediate family, extended family, and friends you can always count on.
Next, identify everyone on your business and personal email lists, because these lists are your most valuable assets and most effective at getting results. Add followers from your website, blog, newsletter, and social media channels. These people follow you and are likely to support you because they like your posts, your business philosophy, and your products.
The number in your network should be adding up fast—possibly surpassing 1,000 or 2,000 people! Then add individuals from civic groups, clubs, and professional associations that you engage with. Now, you can double, triple, or quadruple this number by asking everyone on your lists to share your crowdfunding campaign with their networks as well as engaging two or three well-networked people to actively market your project to their networks.
Not everyone will contribute to your campaign; but making time to know who is in your network and targeting your outreach to them will increase your crowdfunding success!
